Supply Chain Sustainability Associate Director - Viby
Viby J, DK
Are you ready to drive real change, and do you want to set your clear mark on the Supply Chain Sustainability agenda of Arla foods? Are you ready to take a people management role with responsibility of 7 technical experts. Does program- and people management motivate you? Then this opportunity might be the right next step for you!
We are looking for an ambitious, passionate, and impact-driven Associate Director of Supply Chain Sustainability to take charge of one of Arla Foods’ most strategic focus areas: Scope 1 & 2 emissions and the End-to-End Planet Business Partner agenda.
In this newly created leadership role, you will be responsible for driving environmental performance across our global value chain, while also leading a team of seven technical experts—combining strategic program ownership with people management.
You will be part of the Global Supply Chain Sustainability team, a group of twelve colleagues currently based across Denmark, the UK, and Sweden. The team is responsible for shaping and driving the global Supply Chain Sustainability strategy and managing its implementation across our operations. The team primarily leads initiatives related to Energy, Carbon, Food Waste, and Water, with potential expansion into other nature-related areas in the future.
Your overall responsibility will be to ensure that our sustainability goals related to Scope 1 & 2 are successfully achieved throughout the global supply chain. This involves implementing and anchoring the strategy into our production sites and logistics operations, and —importantly—into the broader company culture and DNA.
At Arla Foods, sustainability is more than a goal—it is a fundamental part of how we operate, from sourcing raw materials to delivering the final product and managing its disposal.
How you will make an impact?
As our new Supply Chain Sustainability Associate Director, your key responsibilities will be to:
- Own and drive the overall Scope 1 & 2 agenda in our global Supply Chain including both production and logistics to meet our ambitious 2030 targets, but also define the next strategic horizon of Scope 1 & 2 towards 2050. This task will include defining, tracking and delivering CO2 targets, developing and maintaining a clear, actionable Scope 1 & 2 strategy and roadmap, and engaging the organization both upwards to senior leaders, but especially also our frontline colleagues in both production and logistics.
- Define, own and drive the End to End Planet Business Partner agenda across markets including being the End to End Planet Business Partner for Denmark, specifically, where you will be a member of the Extended Supply Chain leadership team in Denmark where your tasks will be to own and drive Planet performance, and drive site specific corrective actions. In other words, you will be responsible for linking operations with global standards and being the Single Point of Contact (SPOC) for planet related topics (in collaboration with selected team members).
- Lead, develop and support 7 technical experts within Scope 1 & 2 who you will have direct people responsibility for – some of them also being End to End Planet Business Partners in other markets (Sweden, Finland, Central Europe, UK, International).
- Play a big role in supporting the development of the future Supply Chain Sustainability strategy overall (not only Scope 1 & 2, but also Water, Food Waste, Scope 3 Non-FLAG, and potentially future focus areas) making sure that we continue to envision the future and lead the journey towards a stronger Planet including staying ahead of energy trends and benchmarking and gaining inspiration from other companies, together with both the technical experts in the team, but also colleagues from other departments in Arla, and external stakeholders as well.
Working with a variety of stakeholders across the organization and externally, it is essential that you ensure coordination and assess the impact of the initiatives. Furthermore, it is important that you become a trusted sparring partner, build relationships and foster engagement and motivation on different levels of the Supply Chain organization and also outside Supply Chain.
What will make you successful?
You come with a Master’s degree in Supply Chain, Business administration, Science Engineering, or similar. You have a solid knowledge and understanding of Supply Chain and Sustainability, ideally within a global FMCG environment. You have preferable minimum 10 years of work experience for example as a leader of big programs, sustainability or business development. Some degree of technical sustainability understanding and people management experience, successfully leading diverse teams to achieve their goals and grow their careers, will also clearly be beneficial in the role.
You are an experienced, ambitious and passionate leader with high energy and drive. You like to take lead on an area with high complexity and high visibility in the organization. Succes criteria for this role is a highly strategic mindset with excellent communication skills (in English) to effectively engage with stakeholders, and the capability to convey technical topics into understandable business context. You strive in being decisive and setting a clear direction. Last but not least, strong people leadership and stakeholder management skills are crucial to become successful in the role.
Working in an area that plays a central role in not only the Supply Chain strategy, but the overall company strategy, you should possess a change-ready mindset and have big curiosity on external environmental and passion for Sustainability which enables you to constantly monitor new trends that can prepare Supply Chain for the next step on the Sustainability journey.
The location of the role will be Arla foods’ headquarters in Viby, Denmark, and some travel must be expected as you will be leading individuals in not only Denmark, but also UK, SE, and Central Europe.
