Strategic Planner - Aarhus

Do you have the skills and mindset to set the strategic direction for our wonderful range of FMCG brands from Starbucks to Kærgården?

Our in-house agency – The Barn – was created three years ago to help our global and local brands win in a world of increasing media complexity. Today, we have strong teams specialising in campaign development and creative, strategy and planning, analytics, media buying and tech.


We need to further strengthen our strategic planning and look for a Strategic Planner to be responsible for the strategic direction for a number of our global and local brands. You will play a key role in building strong and brilliant work for our brands, working closely with our account managers, planners, creatives, and brand teams. You will be key in running strategic processes for our brands, including but not limited to analysing categories, creating positionings, develop brand strategies, brief and work with creatives.

Reporting into our Head of Planning, you will play a pivotal role in strengthening The Barn’s approach to strategy and its strategic and creative output. We are on a tremendous growth trajectory and strategy is particularly sought-after in the organisation. You will have a key role to play in the further development of how strategy is done at The Barn and will have the opportunity to create massive impact on and with our brands.



The Strategic Planner role has three key areas of responsibility:


1. Hands on strategic leadership of brand and communications planning and development across a broad portfolio of Arla’s brands.

  • Developing top class above-the-line, digital and social strategies, hand in hand with our client teams that are commercially- and insight-driven
  • Developing insightful briefs and championing creativity
  • Identifying new strategic opportunities to create greater emotional connection between Arla’s brands and their audiences
  • Support the brand teams in business planning and help ensure the long-term growth of Arla’s brands


2. Active collaboration in cross agency teams

  • Active participation across The Barn – working closely together with our internal media planners and creative to develop best-in-class creative work
  • Developing cross agency points of view on how to drive best practice in creative and planning, as well as help growing The Barn’s planning skillset.
  • Being seen as thought leader in planning, on evolving consumer behaviour, on food inspiration, etc.


3. Developing The Barn’s planning capabilities

  • Explore, Identify, and build strategic planning capabilities that build on our own models and understanding of what strategic planning is both in relations to Arla and very much for The Barn.
  • Challenge the status quo; The Barn’s current thinking and process and help challenge us to do better



Who are you?

Important: You are passionate about THE WORK. We are here to create great and effective work and we expect a passion for ads and a passion for creating brilliant work! We would definitely expect that you share our excitement about audience insight and that you are also skilled in a variety of techniques to find it, from data analysis, to qualitative research, to working with our research partners and agencies.


Furthermore we hope that you have:

  • 3+ years’ experience with agency planning and strategy.
  • Experience of working in cross agency teams
  • Strong presentation and influencing skills – you have strong opinions, but hold them loosely… and are comfortable getting your ideas challenged.


As the rest of us, you are most likely exceptionally curious, and your interests cover a wide range of topics. You’re left/right brain thinker; you’re equally comfortable working with people and numbers – and you feel ownership of and pride in your work, even if the project is small and executional.

You must be fluent in Danish and English, written and verbal.
