Senior Governmental Public Affairs Manager - Aarhus

About the job

Arla Foods Ingredients (AFI) is an independent company within the Arla Foods Group and a global leader in natural whey ingredients for many different categories including bakery, beverages, dairy, infant and sport nutrition. 


As our new (senior) governmental public affairs manager, you will get a lot of influence shaping the area, as this is a newly established position. One thing is for sure – your days will vary a lot, with tasks/appointments ranging from correspondence with the Danish authorities, meetings with industry organisations and communication with Chinese stakeholders to internal meetings with AFI top management and with Arla Foods.

You will work closely with Arla Public Affairs, aligning the AFI lobby strategy with the overall Arla strategy.


Further tasks and responsibilities will include:


  • Developing and delivering AFI’s public affairs strategy, covering areas like regulators and authorities as well as Industry Association Memberships and EU legislation
  • Having ongoing contact with the Danish Veterinary and Food Administration, DVFA
  • Acting as the political advisor to the AFI management team
  • Working with Arla Corp Communication to develop and deliver a joined, global communication and influencing strategy
  • Build and maintain AFI’s reputation among political and civil society stakeholders as an/the industry leader in nutrition and ingredients


Who are you?

You can both be the highly experienced profile or in the beginning of your professional career. We will shape the position and area of responsibility accordingly. As a person, you love to put your intellectual skills to the test every day and you feel like exploring the frontier of your field and inventing new standards. You have an extrovert and proactive work approach and are well-structured in preparing for briefings and analysis. Your professional acumen and personal strength enable you to manage stakeholder relations at all levels, whether it be with top management internally or Danish municipalities and foreign authorities, externally.


We also imagine that you:

  • Have in-depth knowledge of and experience with public affairs and government relations in a similar highly regulated industry
  • Have worked with food safety, at a food firm, at an embassy, at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, at the Danish Veterinary and Food Administration, or perhaps you have a more scientific background. We are, in other words, open to many kinds of experience
  • Have experience with or an extensive interest in food safety as well as in working internationally
  • Are fluent in English and has great Danish skills as well, so that communication with authorities in Danish is no issue
