The Data Enablement and Governance Team is at the heart of Arla’s data and analytics strategy. As a center of excellence for Data and Analytics, we are responsible for data governance, managing the full data and analytics platform (including tools like Arla’s Data Platform and data catalogue), and driving adoption of these tools across the business. Our goal is to ensure that data is not only governed effectively but also leveraged across the organization to drive informed decision-making and business transformation. This is where you come in.

How you will make an impact
As Senior Data Governance Specialist, you will be a key partner to 3-4 business domains, leading their data governance journey and helping them align with strategic business objectives.

More specifically, you will:
 

• Collaborate with domain stakeholders to develop a data governance road map that fits their unique needs, while ensuring alignment with the broader business goals.
• Provide expert guidance on data governance practices, helping teams define critical data, establish standards, and implement quality metrics.
• Work across strategic, tactical, and operational layers, engaging with diverse stakeholders throughout Arla.
• Support domains in onboarding to Arla’s new Data Enablement platform (Collibra), enabling them to effectively use tools like our data catalogue and business glossary.
• Collaborate with fellow data governance specialists to continuously improve and advance our data governance practices and frameworks.
• Stay ahead of industry trends and best practices in data management and governance to ensure that Arla remains at the forefront of data excellence.

What will make you successful
We are looking for a frontrunner who is structured, can engage stakeholders at all levels, and drive change. You should be comfortable discussing data topics with both Senior Vice Presidents and operational data experts. While you don’t need to be a deep technical expert, a foundational understanding of data governance is essential to effectively support the business. Experience leading change in a data or digital context is key to your success in this role.

Furthermore, we expect that you have the following qualifications
 

• 5+ years of experience driving data governance or digital transformation initiatives.
• Proven expertise in data governance frameworks, best practices, and tools.
• Strong relationship-building skills, with the ability to inspire and lead data governance efforts across the organization.
• Hands-on experience with data quality management, conceptual data models, or familiarity with specific data platforms/tools is a plus.
• Familiarity with agile methodologies is advantageous.
• Fluency in English is required; experience working in a multicultural, international setting is a plus.
