Sales Development Manager for Sports Nutrition - Region North America, Arla Foods Ingredients,Aarhus

Arla Foods Ingredients (AFI) is an independent company within the Arla Foods Group with an ambition to become the true global leader of the value-added whey and milk ingredient business.


“You will be part of the Strategic Business Unit Health & Performance based in AFI headquarters in Aarhus, Denmark. We develop, scientifically document, market, and sell specialised ingredients for the global sports, health and medical nutrition industries”, says Head of Sales Development, Business Unit Health & Performance, Mads Dyrvig.


Develop our ingredient sales to the sports and health nutrition segments by setting direction for the region and exciting internal projects


Together with our sales managers located in North America you will be responsible for maintenance and growth of our ingredient business. Due to the large physical distance you will play an essential role in creating a strong bi-directional link that enables clear regional direction for sales initiatives - but equally important ensures regional input to headquarters about customer and market needs emerging in North America. Close dialogue with our account managers and a large network with our customers is crucial to become successful in the role. Towards the customers you will present our ingredients, application concepts and market trends and act as coordinator on exciting projects. A great overview of the AFI portfolio and comprehension of customer needs enables the right value proposition.


Internally at headquarters your market intelligence and knowledge is key to success and growth of our business as you will set direction for R&D-, application-, marketing-, and nutrition-science departments. You will be involved in development of our market segment and product strategies and execute on this by conceptualization of new business opportunities such as new ingredient developments and application prototypes.


Commercial skills and a solid nutrition understanding


You have a commercial Master degree and extensive nutritional knowledge or alternatively a nutritional/scientific Master degree combined with solid commercial experience. Ideally you have previously worked with sales, marketing or business development in the food or pharmaceutical industry. Your track record demonstrates your strong commercial mindset and at the same time you have a big passion for sports/health nutrition. You are proficient in verbal and written English and possess excellent presentation skills.


Regardless of your background, it is key that you possess a high drive, as well as excellent communication and interpersonal skills. You have the ability to grasp market insights and/or scientific information and translate the essence into a market relevant concept. You work structured and manage your time efficiently so several tasks can be solved in parallel. You are self-propelled, result-oriented and enjoy taking on challenges that invites you to cooperate with colleagues at all levels and across our global organization. You can look forward to gaining an extensive contact base and should expect approximately 40-70 travel days per year.
