Production IT Architect - Viby

To enable our growth within production IT and on-premise solutions at Arla Dairies we are looking for a strong Production IT Architect who can help us drive the future development and set the agenda for our digital journey in Arla Production IT.

In Arla IT Solutions we are 200+ colleagues working agile, we believe in trust over control and we acknowledge innovation and innovative thinking. Join the MES Platform team on our Dairy release train where you will become a key player in setting the direction of our Production IT.

The Arla MES Platform is installed in various versions on more than 60 dairy sites across to enable daily execution of global SAP production orders. In cooperation with our other architects you will be responsible for long term strategic development of Arla Production IT applications and roll out the strategy to digitalise and standardise our Dairies.

This position is based in Viby J, Denmark but you should expect approx. 20 days of travel per year primarily to our locations in Europe.

About the job

A large part of your work will be revolved around designing end-to-end communication between data sources and applications using the data and between applications and end users. The sources exist in parallel on our local Production IT servers on 60 dairy sites.

Your tasks will include:

  • MS SQL databases/historians where you would design stored procedures and user access definitions
  • Handling the Aveva System Platforms OPC or PLC’s with native OPC interfaces or transport via e.g. Kepware PLC-to-OPC
  • Hands-on in databases and servers, defining and delegating tasks to junior developers and external integrators
  • Communication with business owners, team members and scrum masters on planning, prioritizations and delegation of tasks
  • Problem solving with Solution Specialist and being the technical representative

The extensive communication network requires you to able to shift topics quickly during the day.

You will be able to specialize in some of the common core functions e.g. working in SQL databases, but the main thing is to be a generalist with a helicopter view of the end-to-end technical functionality of your architect area.

As Arla is working towards establishing a common Azure cloud solution containing data from all the sites’ production systems,  this will require you to engage with the IIoT team to agree on how to get data safely to the cloud, whilst still keeping performance and security on the site Production IT platforms.

Who are you

  • A degree within Information Systems, Computer Science, Engineering or similar
  • Plus 3 years of experience working with SQL-databases and windows servers
  • Knowledge of OPC communication, firewall rules and AD groups
  • Experience of working with production environments where stability and uptime is key
  • Familiarization with the Agile and Scrum methods
  • Experience from working in a multicultural environment, meaning you can communicate effortlessly in English, writing and spoken.
