Ready to take the lead on global R&D sustainability projects in close collaboration with universities all over the world?

Step into this newly established position and help us improve our farm programmes regarding milk quality, farm management and sustainability initiatives for our 10,000 members across 7 countries in Europe.

Our mission is to reach our CO2 reduction goals for 2030 and accomplish our mission to be climate neutral by 2050 – and you will play a key role in this process.

“This is a strategically very important area for Arla, and you will lead R&D projects which receive high attention from our CEO and the senior management.”

 – Senior Director Torben Greve Himmelstrup

About the job

As our new R&D lead, you will join our Farm Performance Program with 25+ colleagues based in Denmark, Sweden, Germany and England. Here, you will collaborate closely with specialists within dairy and sustainability in its broadest sense.

Your job will be to take the lead on our collaboration with universities across the world – both existing and new ones. Based on input from a broad array of stakeholders from CSR and senior management to sales and marketing, you will select and drive the projects with the goal of improving our sustainability agenda and performance at the farms.

Moreover, you will:

  • Be responsible for designing the strategy for which kind of projects Arla should engage in to improve our farm performance
  • Stay updated on all relevant R&D initiatives in the dairy sector – both at universities and in the industry
  • Validate the R&D initiatives that Arla should engage in
  • Ensure progress in the projects by involving steering committees and other stakeholders
  • Keep the overview of all current and future R&D farm projects

“You will see your projects come to life as you will follow them all the way through until they get implemented at the farms.”

– Senior Director Torben Greve Himmelstrup

Who are you?

You have the ability to work across the entire organisation, stay on top of project plans and spot risks as well as opportunities that drive the projects forward. With your great communication skills, you are able to present project statuses to your team, our university partners and our board to make sure we are all on the same page.

Moreover, you:

  • Have solid experience working with R&D projects
  • Are familiar with the R&D world and have insight into the leading universities within dairy and agricultural research
  • Bring excellent agricultural management skills and an understanding of the dairy farming business
  • Have a strong understanding of the underlying needs for R&D within dairy farming
  • Speak and write English effortlessly

What do we offer?

Besides joining a market leader in farm programs, sustainability and milk quality, you will enter an agile and global MCP team that works across countries and functions in Arla. We will bring out the best in you, and you will continuously experience opportunities to grow and develop your strengths.

You can be based at one of our global offices, e.g. at our HQ in Aarhus (Denmark), Stockholm (Sweden), Düsseldorf (Germany) or Leeds (England). Let us know which location suits you the best.
