Director CAPEX Execution, DK/SE/FI - Aarhus

We are looking for a Director to oversee total CAPEX portfolio in our Nordic countries. The Director CAPEX Execution role is the top CAPEX project execution role in Arla and is directly responsible for the execution of all CAPEX projects > EUR 500k across the manufacturing sites in Denmark, Sweden and Finland. 

As our new Director CAPEX Execution, your main responsibilities will include:


  • Development and Leadership of CAPEX Project Execution Organisation
  • Leadership of all CAPEX project related engineering teams, project management and construction management activities
  • Development and Leadership of CAPEX Project Execution Centre of Excellence (CoE) ways of working and best practices along with capability building across the wider Supply Chain organization


The role is a key member of the Engineering & Technology Leadership Team and plays and active role in setting strategic direction and priorities for the department on top of the responsibilities for driving excellence in the execution of the CAPEX plan.

The position reports directly into the VP for Engineering & Technology and can be located in DK or SE but will require extensive travel (mainly in those countries) and extended hours to meet the responsibilities of the position. The position also requires interaction at all levels of management internally within Arla and externally with suppliers, consultants and sometimes government organizations.


The responsibilities of this position include multiple and conflicting priorities that must be managed objectively and expeditiously.


Other responsibilities include:


  • Lead and manage the CAPEX Project Execution team ensuring successful planning and execution of all CAPEX projects > EUR 500k across DK/SE/FI  manufacturing sites
  • Support SC VPs and Operations Business Partners with leadership, counsel and direction on CAPEX investments relative to budgets, schedules, resourcing, risk and execution strategies
  • Deliver results - Drive maximum value of the company’s CAPEX investment program through development and execution of best cost and best value CAPEX projects and programs
  • Support Network Optimization Projects in DK/SE/FI
  • Create the future – support wider supply chain development of strategic CAPEX investments
  • Strengthen the organisation – develop a high performance culture, driving capability building and a culture that attracts the right talent for the future


Who are we looking for?


You bring a minimum of a Bachelor degree in Engineering and at least 15 years of related work experience. Alternatively 20 years+ experience in a technical/project management role with a proven track record of leading teams to deliver complex projects. In addition, you demonstrate:


  • Mastery in CAPEX project management (budget, cash flow, schedule, resource, scope etc)
  • Deep knowledge of CAPEX procurement practices and contract negotiations
  • Good understanding of supply chain finance and building strong business cases
  • Excellent influencing, networking and communication skills, with the ability to work successfully across a large matrix organisation
  • Capability to lead change and improve ways of working in a team
  • A passion for manufacturing and equipment technology
