CAPEX Project Manager Logistics - Aarhus

Do you have a track record of delivering large capital projects (CAPEX) in a manufacturing or logistics environment? Do you have a passion for new technologies and creating the future of dairy? Then this could be the perfect role for you. As part of our group Engineering & Technology function, we have a new position for a CAPEX Project Manager in our Logistics area.

What is the job?

In this role, you will be responsible for the planning and execution of Logistics CAPEX projects in support of marketing and supply chain initiatives to launch new products, increase capacity and drive cost improvements across our European network. Projects will be across Scandinavia, UK, Germany and Benelux from end to end, ensuring the project is correctly defined and delivered on time, on budget and at agreed performance criteria. You will also be expected to play an active role in driving the Engineering Standards and Ways of Working across the organisation, as well as coaching/mentoring more junior project managers.

Main responsibilities include:

  • Supporting the Logistics Development Director in assessing top line project concepts and business cases.
  • Own the Logistics Portfolio of projects in developing, aligning and executing detailed project plans and success criteria covering key areas such as Productivity, Safety, Quality, Delivery, Time, Scope and Cost.
  • Managing communication amongst the project teams and key stakeholders, including logistics management.
  • Assembling the project team using both internal and external resource, while working with Procurement to develop and execute detailed sourcing strategies.
  • Manging project close-out and commissioning, ensuring delivery of a fully documented package.
  • Takes part in ensuring the department complies with Arla Foods’ standards, policies as well as applicable law and Health & Safety procedures and mindset.
  • Supports development of Engineering Standards and Ways of Working and their implementation and use across the organisation. This includes ensuring legislation is kept and that important knowledge/results from the project are documented and protected.
  • Takes leadership in developing, anchoring and role model a lean/safety/quality/food safety/sustainability/digital/continuous development culture.
  • Financial understanding and work within the framework set by corporate finance.
  • Support Operations Business Partners and Site Directors in assessing top line project concepts and business cases.
  • Manage funding process, cash flows and changes through proper change management processes.
  • Manage communication amongst the project teams and key stakeholders, providing regular project updates to Supply Chain Management.
  • Develop, align and manage project construction plan including clear construction safety plans.


Who are we looking for?

You bring a degree in Engineering (Industrial Engineering would be a preference) with minimum 5 years relevant experience, alternatively a minimum of 10 years’ experience in a project management role. Either profile requires a track record of delivering large, complex projects within the Food or FMCG industry. Experience and knowledge within dairy and/or automated logistic technologies such as AGVs and automated warehouses would be an advantage.

Other key areas include:

  • Good understanding of procurement and finance processes, with the ability to build a strong business case and negotiate contracts.
  • Ability to work autonomously but also collaborate with both internal and external stakeholders.
  • Excellent stakeholder management and leadership skills, enabling you to build networks and drive decision making. You will be required to manage change and deliver improved ways of working.
  • Strong CAPEX Project Management skills (Budget, Cash Flow, Schedule, Resource and Scope Management / Delegation)
  • Evidence of managing multiple projects at one time, balancing time and priorities to ensure success.
  • Fluency in English is essential and it would be an advantage if you speak Danish, Swedish, German or Dutch.
