Business Development Manager - Sports Nutrition

Do you have a strong commercial mindset and nutrition knowledge that you are ready to put in use to boost international sales? Arla Foods Ingredients (AFI) is an independent company within the Arla Foods Group, with an ambition to become the true global leader of the value-added whey business.


You will be part of the Strategic Business Unit Health & Performance Nutrition based in AFI headquarters in Aarhus, Denmark. We develop, document, market, and sell specialized ingredients for the global medical, health and sports nutrition industry.


Develop our ingredient sales to sports and health nutrition segments by identifying and executing on strategic initiatives


As the intermediate link between our sales force, marketing-, application-, nutrition-science-, and R&D-department, your expert market intelligence and knowledge is key to success and growth of our business. You will use your knowledge about market developments and customer needs to initiate and execute on strategic initiatives with colleagues throughout the organisation. Internally it is key to develop our market segment and product strategies and execute on this by conceptualization of new business opportunities such as new ingredients and application prototypes. Towards account managers and colleagues from the regional sales offices you play an essential role in setting direction and priority for their sales activities. In the direct work with customers you will present ingredients, application concepts and market trends and drive projects. Key enablers are strong internal and external relationships, extensive customer, market and competitor knowledge as well as a great overview of the AFI product portfolio.


Commercial background and a solid nutrition understanding


You have a commercial master’s degree or alternatively a nutritional/scientific master’s degree background combined with solid commercial experience. Ideally you have previously worked with sales, marketing or business development in the food or pharmaceutical industry. Your track record demonstrates your strong commercial mindset and at the same time you have a big passion for sports nutrition. It is key that you are self-propelled, possess a high drive as well as extraordinarily good communication and interpersonal skills. You enjoy working with colleagues at all levels in the organization and from various cultural backgrounds. Further, you must be capable of handling and solving many tasks simultaneously as you will be working in a dynamic environment.


Last, but not least, you are proficient in verbal and written English and possess excellent presentation skills. You can look forward to gaining an extensive contact base and should expect approximately 40-60 travel days yearly.
