Site Electrical and Compliance Specialist / Engineering Team Leader – Arla Oakthorpe


As an Arla Engineer, you will make sure that the nation get Cravendale milk in their tea each morning, Skyr yoghurt in their breakfast bowl, and Anchor butter on their toast.


This is an exciting opportunity to work at our key North London plant. You’ll get the chance to work at a site that’s getting 7 million euros worth of investment over the next 18 months. So what do our engineers actually do?

Our Engineering team are problem solvers. They are responsible for maintaining, fixing and installing the machinery that allows us to create tasty, healthy, high quality products. As the Electrical and Compliance Specalist, you will be responsible for delivering and ensuring engineering compliance on site;


  • Systems Owner - designated systems
  • As Electrical duty holder you will be responsible for Electrical Safety compliance requirements  and  Maintenance of all HV and LV distribution
  • Supplier Liaison
  • Optimisation of contracts inc. specifications
  • Design and implementation of Maintenance Plans
  • Technical Support
  • Delivery of Technical Solutions
  • Manage/ control specific works inc. safety
  • Asset Protection for Energy Centre and Utilities
  • Planning All Statutory Inspections


  • Responsibility for compliance of;
  • LOLAR and Pressure Systems, PUWER, Legionella, DSEAR
  • Site wide Engineering compliance status review and improvement - i.e. PTW system
  • Energy Centre management Team and Technical cover
  • Documentation control/ century

Level definition

Leader/Specialist tasked with delivering results that make a significant contribution to a department or project delivery.

Responsible for delivering operational plans and setting day-to-day team objectives or acts independently to deliver the business policies and programmes within a defined specialist area. Resolves day-to-day issues/escalation points.

Key responsibilities

People manager ensuring continuity and improvement of operation. Furthermore, the Maintenance/Engineering Team Leader should ensure safe working conditions, and contribute to the work with LEAN principles, food safety and quality at the site

  • Manages the delivery of targets to ensure the department achieves its goals
  • Leads 2nd line fault finding and coordinates effective resource prioritization in consultation with other functional leads
  • Plans, improves and executes maintenance of site equipment in line with departmental strategy.
  • Drives the people agenda and focuses on talent pipeline, right competencies within the department
  • Provides input concerning relevant spare parts stock and materials required.
  • Communicates effectively to report on status of lines and equipment based on OEE
  • Completes and updates plant maintenance records complying with all departmental procedures.
