Production Team Leader- Lockerbie

What is our Lockerbie dairy like?


Our site in Lockerbie employs over 300 people and operates 24/7, 365 days per year producing high quality fresh milk and cheese. With recent investment and a focus on training and development there has never been a better time to join the team!


What will the role look like?


As a Team Leader within the Reception, Process & Production department, you will be responsible for managing performance, safety, quality and cost savings. You will be delivering operational plans and setting day to day team objectives including delivery of the site business plan and resolving day to day issues/escalation points.


  • Ensuring a safe, clean and good working environment utilising 5S principles
  • Assisting the team to achieve their own objectives including training through coaching, hands on support and organisation of resources
  • Responsibility for resource utilisation and the management of all direct reports including investigations and performance management
  • Ensuring a cost efficient and stable production process with emphasis on SIC/KPI
  • Contributing to the development of current processes and ways of working
  • Challenging processes and practices identifying opportunities for Continuous Improvement
  • Implementing the department Business Plan including own objectives
  • Conducting walking tours and process confirmation
  • Enabling daily direction setting meeting (DDS) in order to drive performance
  • Ensuring that your department complies with Arla’s standards in terms of Food Safety, H&S, Environment and carry’s out internal audits to ensure compliance.
  • Responsibility  for controlling any emergency issues/situations on site


What do I need?


  • Knowledge of process control systems and a strong understanding of milk production and its related processes (desirable)
  • Extensive knowledge of Lean principles
  • Excellent people skills, high levels of enthusiasm and a positive attitude to change and problem solving
  • Management experience within a relevant sector such as food, manufacturing or FMCG
  • Ability to work on a 4 on, 4 off shift pattern including both days and night shifts
