Driver Trainer

Level Definition

Responsible for delivering training to all staff for the Safe collection of Milk from Farms and to ensure drivers are trained to the required level. Manage the Legal Compliances of Drivers to meet the business needs. Bulk Farm collection driving on non-training days


Key Responsibilities

• Carry out driving assessments on all new drivers at Interview stage

• Driver Inductions

• Deliver Safe And Fuel Efficient Driving (SAFED) technique training

• EU drivers’ hours and FTA regulations

• Management of driver Infringements

• Health and safety training (i.e. manual handling, farm safety)

• Carry out risk assessments and safe systems of work onsite and at farms

• Training drivers on Bulk Farm collections in line with the driver handbook

• Farm hazard awareness training

• DTAS (Dairy Transport Assurance Scheme) training and annual assessments

• Carrying out annual driver assessments, identifying training needs and action accordingly

• Maintain accurate training records for all training completed

• Maintain driver portal for FTA and Licence Bureau Management 

• Vehicle familiarisation training

• Vehicle onboard system training including telematics, TOC, S12 systems

• Driver reporting on driving styles

• Drug and alcohol testing

• Toolbox Talks rollout as required

• Adhere to GDPR law relating to colleague records

• Bulk Farm Collection driver on non-training days


Educational background/Experience

• Training and assessing experience preferably within a Bulk Farm collection/logistics environment

• An LGV training or assessment qualification or working towards is preferable 

• At least 3 years Bulk Farm Collection LGV C+E (Class 1) driving Licence experience

• Computer literate in Office 365,  Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook and Power Point

• Good Interpersonal skills, confident, able to work on own initiative and as part of a team

• Experience working with online systems i.e. FTA and vehicle tracking systems

• Good communication skills, with the ability to develop internal and external relationships

• Able to work flexible hours to meet the business needs across 24/7
