Customer Category Controller, Leeds - 12 Month FTC

This is a pivotal role that will ensure Arla’s growth plans and initiatives are converted into brilliant execution that drives growth, positively impacts shopper behaviours and continues to build our Dairy credentials within the industry. Your task is to support customers in finding the growth they need aligned with Arla’s strategic direction.





Some of your key responsibilities in this role will include:


• Being the channel, shopper  and customer expert for your customers

• Having a thorough understanding of your retailers strategies and ensuring complete tailoring of Arla initiatives to customer strategies

• Translating the category and shopper strategies and initiatives into tailored customer commercial 3 year plans across all channels, incl: EComm

• Ensuring a ‘category first’ approach, ensuring category growth and customer relationship is at the heart of our commercial plans.

• Through your team, leading in store trials/pilots in line with category/shopper strategies that will deliver a competitive advantage for Arla/customers, e.g., fixture trials, POS trials, digital trials

• Through your team, identifying bespoke areas of growth for the customers through interrogating category/shopper data

• Ensuring NPD lands and delivers in line with BC’s for your customers

• Building senior relationships in customers and taking full ownership for the Dairy growth category agenda in your customers

• Coaching and developing a team of leaders to create a team of engaged colleagues and helping to establish the function as a hot bed for talent

• Driving execution of  the 4 P’s in your customers across all channels– Optimum price and promo plans, placement/display strategies across all channels (shelf/screen/space/layout) – ensuring Arla are in line with the customers category processes, e.g. range reviews, strategy planning and leading the category agenda



To be successful in this role you will have significant experience within category management and senior commercial roles within FMCG and will be an established people manager. You will be fully conversant in all data sets including Kantar, Nielsen, IRI, I2C and DH. As a strong leader of change you will be confident in creating your own direction and building commitment internally as well as with customers. Furthermore, you will be able to lead and inspire your team of 7 direct reports to raise the performance bar and take the function to new heights. As a strong strategist you will make connections in data and insights and will be able to think long term as well as focussing on converting strategy to execution. With extensive commercial experience you will understand the commercial needs of the organisation as well as our customers and will be able to work with pace and agility to drive growth which is mutually beneficial. Finally with a genuine interest in both category and shopper you will be eager to build expertise around evolving shopper behaviour.
