Product Developer, Dairy - Fermented Products - Skyr/Quark - Arla Upahl, Germany

Your aim -  Develop Fermented dairy products of the future


Your tasks Your main goal is to develop new fermented dairy products as well as line extensions across the Fermented category including the Arla brand and other local strategic bets & private label. As such, you will be leading a large number of product development projects of varying size and, with hands on approach, you will drive the activities from start to finish. This role puts you in a unique position to have a major impact on the future success of the organization.  Especially important -> You work and live in a region where others go on vacation. The picturesque cities of Lübeck, Schwerin and Wismar are in the immediate vicinity. The Baltic Sea invites you to swim in the summer.


  • Turning concepts into innovative new products in order to give Arla a commercial advantage
  • Optimizing the cost / value of new and existing products, working closely with marketing, commercial, suppliers, our supply chain and other stakeholders
  • Take lead on product and process development projects, including recipe finalization, cost management, quality assurance and legal assessment
  • Developing proto-types, kitchen and pilot scale and upscaling into the factory 
  • Working closely with Innovation Managers and Brand Managers and colleagues within Fermented dairy to act as a strong and credible technical sparring partner in discussions
  • Closely collaborate with key stakeholders within e.g. new product development (NPD), ingredient suppliers, marketing, production site, product management, quality assurance, regulatory
  • Project Management, including being able to provide a clear status of a development project,  opportunities, risks and project timeline


Your profile


  • Degree within Food Science and Technology, Dairy Technology or similar
  • A minimum of 3-5 years of experience in an FMCG / Dairy environment in the area of New Product Development ( NPD ), Research & Development ( R&D )  or Product Innovation
  • Cross functional project management experience is important as well as being hands on
  • You must be fluent in English in order to navigate in an international environment and German is really advantageous to navigate locally 
  • Finally, you are  good at communicating clearly, building personal relations both across organizational levels and externally
