Production Technician - Taw Valley

We have an exciting Production Technician (Mozzarella) opportunity to join our Taw Valley Creamery. This is especially exciting as the creamery is undergoing a major transformation, thanks to a £180 million investment. The role involves supporting the cheese department in achieving targets while maintaining strict hygiene standards and ensuring quality control throughout the production process. This is a shift-based role operating on a 4 on/4 off, 12-hour shift.
Key responsibilities:
- Process management:
- Operate department processes following established protocols
- Understand process parameters and product characteristics
- Ensure consistency and quality in product recipies
- Demonstrate competency in all aspects of cheese production
- Quality and compliance:
- Implement cleaning and hygiene protocols per standards
- Monitor and work toward department KPIs
- Follow and document all required procedures
- Minimise, manage, and report production losses
- Work collaboratively with the cheese department team to achieve established targets and objectives, contributing to overall production goals and efficiency.
- Execute and maintain rigorous hygiene protocols associated with mozzarella manufacture, ensuring compliance with food safety standards.
- Complete accurate paperwork and documentation for production runs, quality checks, and procedural compliance.
What will make you successful:
The successful candidate will be capable of calibrating and properly using analytical equipment to perform quality checks throughout the production process, ensuring product consistency. They will demonstrates basic understanding of valve and pump operation essential to cheese production systems, enabling proper equipment operation and basic troubleshooting. Possessing working knowledge of automation systems and can operate, monitor, and troubleshoot computerised production equipment used in mozzarella manufacturing. They will need to ddemonstrate competency with essential IT tools including spreadsheets, digital forms, and email communication systems used in production documentation and reporting.

- Our Taw Valley Creamery was established in 1974 and it has been a significant site for cheese production in the UK, and it has undergone various developments and expansions over the years to improve its capacity and capabilities in cheese making.
- We process approximately 1.2 million litres of milk daily; producing over 100t of award winning cheeses, such as BOB, Castello Tickler, alongside butter and whey powder
- Our Taw Valley site is soon to receive around £180 Million investment to create a new mozzarella production facility, the 2nd largest single investment in Arla Foods UK.
