Liquid Process Operator - Taw Valley

 As a Liquid Process Operator you will be a multi skilled operator as a part of a high-performance team supporting daily operations and meeting short and long term goals, reporting into the Area Lead-Liquid Process. Working 4 on 4 off (days & night shift pattern) in a 12 hour shift at our Arla Foods Taw Valley Creamery.

 

Key responsibilities:

Your role involves operating, monitoring, and cleaning processing equipment such as clarifiers, separators, pasteurisers, filtration units, and various valve types, as well as handling associated pump operations. You will also be responsible for using this equipment to process all whey and cream to the highest quality standards, safely unloading milk delivered to the site, and dispatching sweet and whey cream while ensuring all products are within specification.

 

  • Actively contribute to a healthy and safe working environment by following safety protocols and identifying hazards.
  • Complete accurate paperwork and documentation for production runs, quality checks, and procedural compliance.
  • Ensure the department remains audit ready in terms of cleaning, hygiene, food safety, and paperwork.
  • Monitor and review processes to achieve departmental KPIs, recording and communicating any deviations to LCO team & Liquid Process Technicians.
  • Collaborate with maintenance and team members to minimize lost time from breakdowns; participate in AR-LEAN initiatives, process optimization, and mandatory training courses for continuous improvement.

 

Skills & experience:

 

Experience in a similar position is preferred, although full training will be provided. Ideally, you will have experience working in a liquid manufacturing environment and possess the ability to support your team while making decisions that protect quality and food safety. Flexibility is important, as the role requires covering both sides of the shift during holidays or sickness. You should be self-motivated, able to take accountability for your own tasks, and work in an organised and methodical manner by following company procedures. The ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines, along with good communication skills to form positive working relationships, is essential. You should also demonstrate good numeracy and literacy, strong IT skills, and keen attention to detail. Basic knowledge of dairy science would be an added advantage.
