We are looking for a responsible food processing operative who is interested in embracing a new challenge with a rare and exciting opportunity to join the Cheese Processing team at Taw Valley.
You need to be highly motivated and a great communicator who is happy to work within a small team and critical department of the business.
Position requirement
Reporting to the Operations Team Leader: With a minimum of two years’ experience in the food industry with knowledge of food processes to enable you to make informed process control decisions.
Main duties to include:
Administrative/Technical support operating within the department.
Follows established processes providing day-to-day support necessary to ensure delivery of operational targets
- Previous dairy / food manufacturing experience would be desirable.
- 12 hour 4 on 4 off day / night shift pattern offering competitive rate of pay + shift allowance
- Potential for overtime if required
Key responsibilities
Automation and mechanics
- Uses operator interfaces for machines and processing equipment.
- Acknowledges and addresses the causes of a problem.
- Assists in the production of functional descriptions.
Manufacturing processes
- Lead operator in the department’s overseeing processes and fixes process failures.
- Draws relationship between process parameters and product characteristics.
Process technology
- Applies knowledge of how process components are activated.
- Interprets events using flowcharts and descriptions.
- Involved in risk analysis and suggests improvements.
CIP and cleaning
- Evaluates the washing and cleaning results.
- Participates actively in the optimisation of the washing/cip process.
Production economics
- Follows KPI’s for the department.
- Minimizes, manages and reports losses and defects.
Hygiene
- Works to minimise exposure to risks.
- Applies knowledge of hygienic design.
Food safety
- Applies procedure and instructions regarding food safety (HACCP).
- Identifies causes of quality deficiencies and suggests improvements.
Product knowledge
- Ensures what is pass/fail product, handling nonconforming product.
- Manages recipe of products and additives used and their functions.
Work environment
- Contribute to a healthy and safe work environment.
Lean
- Participate in performance board meetings.
- Contribute to Continuous Improvement.
- Use Lean Tools.
