Senior Category Manager (m/f/d) - Sydney

The Senior Category Manager role is critical in leading the development of the overall Arla Foods Australia Category Growth Narrative. This person will provide category & strategic branded growth recommendations which are instrumental in driving scale and growing our market share positions. In this role you, you are instrumental in delivering our long-term ambitions by understanding and unlocking the needs of shoppers, pricing and promotional strategy and delivering engaging programmes for our retailers. You will also be accountable for our macro shopper/category strategy and category planning, building sustainable growth for our customers.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Responsible for the development and delivery of AFMA’s category strategies ensuring the business/commercial plans are fully aligned to them.
  • Develop Clear Category Vision: Create a comprehensive category vision based on a deep understanding of shopper, customer, and business needs – with insights from multiple data sources;
  • Influence the customer by identifying opportunities and providing potential solutions that align with retailer and company objectives.
  • Ownership of In-store/ Point of Purchase Shopper strategy and plan (Range, Space, Price & Promotion and Place): Set objectives for category reviews by customer to enhance in-store visibility, including shelf and display quality and quantity.
  • Develop category reviews, line reviews, promotion analysis, etc.
  • Leverage data tools:
    • to provide reporting and insights which will further develop company and retailer objectives.
    • that will help with business issues including: SKU rationalization, item deletion defense, new item sell in, category reviews, new item tracking, etc.
  • Drive commercial execution alignment: The role is pivotal in leading our commercial execution plans ie in store focus in key seasons and driving the alignment across the sales and marketing teams to ensure we achieve business and customer priorities

 

Educational background/Experience

  • 7-10 years of business experience.
  • 3-5 years experience in category development roles with demonstrated customer facing experience
  • Strong drive for results, strong organizational command skills, demonstrated ability to align commercial teams and interact strongly with customers.
  • Microsoft Office (very strong Excel/PowerPoint).
  • Prior experience working with IRI/Nielsen, Quantium & Coles Synergy scan and panel data.
  • Strong data synthesis and visualization
  • Tertiary level qualifications
