Process Engineer- Aylesbury

As an Arla Engineer, you will make sure that the nation get Cravendale milk in their tea each morning, Skyr yoghurt in their breakfast bowl, and Anchor butter on their toast.

This is an exciting opportunity. You’ll be able to work with state of the art machinery at our largest flagship dairy. Built in 2010, covering 76 acres, 100% carbon neutral dairy is the very first of its kind in the world! It plays a big part in helping Arla to #feedthenation, producing a staggering 1 billion litres of milk per year. You’ll receive internal and external training, to ensure that you meet your fullest potential.

So what do our engineers actually do?

Our Engineers are problem solvers. They are responsible for maintaining, fixing and installing the machinery that allows us to create tasty, healthy, high quality products. As a Process Engineer, you will save the day if there’s a breakdown as well as participating in planned preventative maintenance. The main aim of the role is to effectively perform electrical and mechanical maintenance of all Dairy process equipment. As a Process Engineer you will be ensuring the legal compliance and efficient/reliable operation of all plant within budget while instilling an atmosphere of continuous improvement to ensure the continued effectiveness of our operations. There will be a key emphasis on customer relations effectively liaising with all departments including site Energy Centre.

Duties and responsibilities:

  • Provide leadership and contribute in a tangible way to the implementation and maintenance of the HSE & Quality process on-site
  • Work collaboratively with the Processing department team
  • Recommend amendments to the installation maintenance plan in light of maintenance and inspection history
  • Develop and implement improvement plans for allocated equipment to increase efficiency and technical availability
  • Conduct RCFA investigations in to plant issues and component failures and implement corrective actions and improvements
  • Develop an atmosphere of change that will positively contribute towards the advancement of all functions relating to the manufacturing operation embracing the Lean culture


What you’ll need to be a successful Engineer at Aylesbury

  • Recognised time served apprenticeship in an engineering discipline with HNC/HND
  • Good communication skills (verbal & written)
  • Able to demonstrate logical thought processes and ways of working with an ability to follow detailed instructions
  • 3 years recent detailed experience within an automated process environment – Food / Brewing / Pharmaceutical/ Chemical/ Water Treatment
  • Technical hands on expert in all process related plant and equipment Mechanical /Electrical/Instrumentation
  • Skilled in reading SCADA visualisations
  • A positive and resilient approach to problem solving, team working, and continuous improvement
