For our Food Chemistry team in Aarhus, we are looking for a Scientist with a passion for food chemistry with a strong understanding of biochemistry and metabolites.
About our team
We have a global role in Arla R&D and are based in Arla’s Innovation Centre in Aarhus, Denmark. Our purpose is to transform food chemistry into business opportunities for Arla. We drive food chemistry based research, partner up with product developers to create the future of dairy and support our production sites worldwide with ad hoc tasks. We are a team of scientists and technicians with vast experience within food chemistry and we are eager to find a new colleague to share our scientific passions with.
How you will make an impact
You will be a key partner in innovative science projects and tasks with focus on biochemical processes in dairy products, especially in cheese. This will include interpretation of metabolomics data & understanding the complex biochemical pathways taking place during cheese maturation and in other fermented dairy products. In this role you will combine your strong scientific skills with a business mindset. To be successful in this job you will:
- Drive the biochemistry link to a number of research and innovation projects and make sure they meet the expectations as to deliverables, time and resources
- Be the strong link to our fermentation colleagues in Life Sciences and demonstrate how results from Food Chemistry can bring value to the future of dairy
- Together with the team’s scientists will lead the metabolites agenda in Innovation
- Together with our Research Technicians maintain and develop our analytical competencies through method development and optimization
- Use your biochemistry expertise and analytical skills to provide recommendations to product development and research projects
- Use your skills in advanced data analysis to combine data from several analytical methods
Project management will play an important part as you will have a proactive role in collaborating with relevant internal and external stakeholders on projects and tasks. You can expect a dynamic job where you will have some travel days visiting our sites, universities and other external collaboration partners. What are we looking for
We are looking for a professional with a Master’s degree in biochemistry, molecular biology, food science, dairy engineering or similar and expert knowledge within biochemistry. A PhD degree can be of advantage in this role. Above all, you must take strong interest in applying your scientific knowledge into a business mindset.
Preferably, you:
- Have 3-5 years’ working experience in the area of dairy science
- Can apply your expert knowledge to further develop our strategic competences and add value to Arla
- Have experience with advanced data analysis interpreting results from LC-MS, LC-MS/MS, GC-MS, NMR & other analytical methods
- Thrive in an international environment where scientific knowledge sharing and continuous learning are key words
- Are meticulous and able to select, develop and implement the right approach to conduct research that creates sustainable and applicable results for future dairy products
