R&D Technician - Food Chemistry Team, Arla Innovation Centre, Aarhus (Maternity cover)

We are looking for a maternity cover R&D Technician with a passion for research and innovation with analytical interests within chromatography to join the Food Chemistry Team at Arla Innovation Centre, Aarhus from August 15th  2025 to August 14th  2026.

 

About our team

We have a global role in Arla R&D and are based in Arla’s Innovation Centre in Aarhus, Denmark. Our purpose is to transform food science into business opportunities for Arla. We drive food science-based research, partner up with product developers to create the future of dairy and support our production sites worldwide with ad hoc tasks. We are a team of scientists and technicians with vast experience within food science and we are eager to find a new colleague to share our scientific passions with.

 

In our team we apply and develop many different analyses to evaluate the chemical composition of our products. We apply different chromatographic methods to analyze the product compositions covering aroma, protein, peptide, metabolite, carbohydrate and mineral profiles. Likewise, we evaluate enzymatic activities through specific assays. We collaborate with many different functions at the Innovation Centre with the purpose to transform Food Chemistry into business opportunities for Arla.” says Associate R&D Manager - Food Chemistry Analytics, Jan Breinholt Carlsen,

 

About the job

As a R&D Technician, you will be joining a team of 11 specialists, all experts within their fields. You will be part of a group of 5 technicians. You will work closely with both scientists and technicians in our team on various tasks and projects to plan your own tasks.

 

A typical task covers the following:

  • Taking in a request, coordinating and planning laboratory trials and analyses.
  • Executing and reporting trials and analysis.
  • Data handling, ordering the needed chemicals and maintaining our equipment.
  • Our main analytical methods include GC-MS, LC-TOF, LC-QTOF and IC.
  • Data treatment is a big part of the daily work.

 

Who are you?

We imagine  that you have a degree as R&D Technician, laboratory, chemistry or similar. Skills within chemical analyses, especially chromatography, are an advantage, but not a must-have since you will have a thorough introduction to the relevant methods. Strong communication skills and a learning mindset is important as we work across many functions and explore new scientific areas. A logical and analytical mindset with a precise and systematic approach is important for this function.

 

Furthermore, it is essential that you:

  • Have an open, curious and positive mindset.
  • Are structured and precise
  • Speak and write English
  • Have flair for IT. Both software such as Microsoft Office applications as well as software used for controlling our equipment and for data analysis.
