R&D Technician (in Danish "laborant"), Arla Innovation Centre - Aarhus

We are looking for a new R&D Technician with a passion for research and innovation with analytical interests within microbiology and fermentation to join the Life Sciences team at Arla Innovation Centre.

We have a global role in Arla R&D and are based in Arla’s Innovation Centre in Aarhus, Denmark. Our purpose is to transform science into business opportunities for Arla. We drive science-based research within microbiology, partner up with product developers to create the future of dairy and support our production sites worldwide with ad hoc tasks. We are a team of scientists and R&D technicians with vast experience within microbiology and we are eager to find a new colleague to share our scientific passions with.

About the job

As a R&D Technician in the Life Sciences Team at Arla Foods’ Innovation Centre, you will be joining a team of 12 specialists, all experts within the different fields of microbiology. You will work closely with both scientists and the 2 technicians in our team on various tasks and projects. A task can cover the following:

 

  • Taking in a request, coordinating and planning laboratory trials and analyses.
  • Executing and reporting trials and analysis.
  • Data handling and reporting
  • Ordering chemicals and maintaining our equipment
  • Our main analytical methods include Maldi-Tof Biotyper, fermentation, DNA extraction and sequencing but also traditional microbial lab work with dilution and plating.
  • Maintenance of our microbial culture and strain collection.
  • Challenge testing our products in house or at an external laboratory.

 

Who are you?

We expect that you have a degree as R&D Technician (in Danish “laborant”). Skills within microbial  analyses, and especially competences within fermentation are a big advantage. Strong communication skills and a learning mindset is important as we work across many functions and explore new scientific areas. A logical and analytical mindset with a precise and systematic approach is important for this function. Furthermore, it is essential that you:

  • Have an open, curious and positive mindset and are eager to collaborate
  • Have a good drive, agile and are proactive
  • Speak and write English effortlessly.
  • Have a thorough flair for IT. Both software such as Microsoft Office applications as well as software used for controlling our equipment and data analysis
