Product Developer for "Long life cooking" - Aarhus

In Arla we are strengthening a strategic focus area within ‘Long life cooking’. Therefore we are looking for a new Product Development colleague who wants to combine theoretical knowledge of food technology with experienced hands-on product development to gain  commercial advantage.  You will be based at state-of- the-art Arla Innovation Center in Aarhus as well as in Esbjerg on production sites where you will focus on long life cooking products.

About the job


You will work in our Milk Based Beverage business unit with large focus on long life cooking products such as soups, sauces and cream alternatives both for core as well as our growth markets. Your main areas of responsibilities are to:


  • Plan, implement, evaluate and document experiments in lab, pilot and production scale.
  • Lead product and process-related product development activities including feasibility studies towards supply chain, recipe finalization, cost management, quality assurance, legal assessment and market  implementation 
  • Act as a “knowledge expert” and technical sparring partner in the fast moving strategic focus area ‘Long life cooking’
  • Focus on final application usage to ensure correct product functionality
  • Contribute actively to product and process knowledge related to changes in production lines and investments. Be a strong technical sparring partner to dairies and supply chain
  • Solve advanced problems related to product and quality problems. Actively participate in pilot plant testing of new processes and products.
  • Focus on close cooperation with innovation managers and category managers to turn concepts into innovative scalable products in order to give Arla a commercial advantage


Who are you?

You have a background within dairy, beverage or food technology or science at Bachelor’s or Master’s level. This topped with minimum 4+ years’ of experience within new product development. You have the exact credentials needed for this key NPD position.


This means that you are able to think outside of the box in order to develop ground-breaking solutions for long life cooking products like soups, sauces and cream alternatives. If you have been working within the dairy industry, been a chef,  have practical experience from bakery, industry kitchen or have experience with long life cooking products manufacturing it will absolutely give you a head start.


Cross functional project management experience is important as well as being hands on.  You must be fluent in English (verbal and written) in order to navigate in an international environment, and have a some level of communication in Danish.


Finally, you are a good at communicating clearly, building personal relations both across organizational levels and externally. In addition, you are equipped with a sound business understanding and are skilled at driving projects from start to finish.


You must expect 30 travelling days a year. Additionally, commuting between the Innovation Center in Aarhus and production sites at Esbjerg must be counted in as well.
