Product Developer, Maternity cover - Aarhus

Do you have experience from , or passion for, the dairy, edible oil or maybe some other food industry? Would you like to make this experience count as you work creatively to develop new ideas and translate market demands into new products?  


The Butter and Spreads Product development team is part of the Product and Innovation organisation and is  based in  Arla Innovation Centre in Skejby, You will join a team of  5 colleagues and be involved in global projects for our strong brands ,Lurpak, Kærgården, Bregott and Anchor The job is a 11 months’ maternity cover starting in March or April 2021.


Develop products and technologies


Together we develop products and new technologies. We also support sustainable  packaging development by working closely together with our packaging development team.


As product developer, you will participate in both short- and long-term development projects and be responsible for recipe development, product testing, data collection and documentation from testing of the first idea in pilot plant scale to the final implementation at one of our butter dairies. Part of your work will be very “hands-on” at our dairies, especially in Holstebro, where we have our pilot plant and  test facilities for butter and spreads.



More specifically, you will:


  • Take the technical lead in development projects, participating in the process from concept development to final recipe implementation
  • Participate in long-term technology development within selected areas relevant for the butter and spreads category
  • Optimise the cost/value of new and existing products, working closely with global marketing, suppliers, our supply chain and other stakeholders
  • Participate in packaging development projects (shelf life testing, securing product quality etc)
  • As one of our butter experts, you will support the rest of the organisation with know-how and product understanding
  • Keep an eye on consumer trends, competitors’ activities, patents and scientific literature



Dairy or product development experience


Food is your passion, and your are curious and have a real enthusiasm to test new ideas. You hold a university degree within dairy, food or oil processing technology and ideally you have some experience within product or technology development  in the food industry


Moreover, we expect you to:


  • Have an open and positive attitude
  • have a structured and analytical approach to project execution and problem solving
  • have a global mindset and solid business understanding as you interact with colleagues in our global markets.
  • have excellent communication skills in English both spoken and written, just as you will need to get by in written and spoken Danish
