Manager, Sustainable Packaging - Aarhus/Esbjerg

If you have a strong passion for innovation and sustainability as well as for packaging development within the food industry, then join our ambitious team of packaging developers and engineers in the Sustainable Packaging Innovation team. In this role, you will be part of the Sustainable Packaging Innovation team and will report to the Director for Sustainable Packaging.

 

About the job

You will play a key role in developing next generation sustainable packaging for our milk-based beverage business, which includes large international brands.

Your initial focus will be the technical development and coordination of stakeholders in one of major sustainable packaging projects within a well-established cross functional project team.

In more detail your main tasks will be to secure and deliver on:

 

Feasibility 

Establish final product, packaging and production recommendations, which entails:

  • Identify Packaging General Targets
  • Perform and evaluate tests, incl. big scale trials, transportation tests and performance on production lines
  • Prepare specifications, assess impact on quality, run mitigation and shelf life tests and collect final supplier data
  • Be part of selecting machinery and identifying needs for adjustments
  • Secure conformity with legislation, environmental and retailer guidelines in collaboration with our compliance colleagues.

 

Desirability

  • Contribute to the concept rationale, which reflects market trends and consumer needs

 

Viability 

  • Be part of establishing financial business case figures in terms of production and material costs

 

The duration of the deliveries in these strategically important sustainable packaging projects are estimated to 2 years. We will offer a 2 years contract, with a high chance of transferring into a permanent position before end of the assignment.

 

Who are you?

We are looking for a strong manager with experience from packaging material and concept verification and validation - and ideally having experience in developing and implementing new packaging at a production site. You probably hold a degree within engineering (mechanical or chemical) or dairy/food science.  You have profound knowledge within packaging development in the food industry or you are a fast learner with relevant training in the area. The job can be adjusted to your strengths!
 

We will further look for:

  • A structured way of working and able to handle many tasks and stakeholders at a time
  • A collaborative mindset with the ability to win trust with various stakeholders both in global functions and at the dairy site and also with external partners such as packaging material and machine suppliers
  • Project leader skills
  • fluency in English and preferably Danish

 

The location of the job will primarily be at a dairy site in Esbjerg, but also closely connected to the Arla Innovation Centre and Arla headquarter in Aarhus.
